Ekin Yasin is the Director of the Communication Leadership Master’s Program at the University of Washington. With expertise in professional communication, emerging technologies such as AI, and global trends, she focuses on preparing students for future career opportunities and societal impact.
Prof. Yasin is dedicated to innovative course design, inclusive education, and building curricula that equip students with the communication skills essential for the future workforce. She has designed workshops, online courses, and global learning initiatives on emerging trends, technology, and professional communication. Additionally, she specializes in creating globally interactive courses and fostering international collaborations.
In recognition of her excellence in teaching, Prof. Yasin received the University of Washington Distinguished Teaching Award in 2018. She has made significant contributions to education through her teaching, workshops, and consulting for global enterprises in strategic communication, AI applications, and engagement strategy development.
AI is fundamentally transforming the way we work. In response to this shift, the University of Washington’s Communication Leadership Master’s program has developed a new curriculum and a standalone online course to help marketing and communication professionals navigate the challenges and opportunities of AI.
In this talk, Prof. Yasin will share insights into developing a comprehensive AI course for global learners in communication-related roles and how other programs can integrate AI education into their curricula. She will walk through the course design process, introducing key AI tools and concepts while ensuring that professionals acquire practical skills to thrive in an AI-driven environment.
Additionally, Prof. Yasin will discuss findings from focus group research, which played a critical role in shaping the course to be globally accessible for professionals preparing for the future of AI.
